What is Laser Hair Removal?

Advances in laser technology now make it possible to target unwanted body hair without damaging surrounding skin or tissues. When laser pulses are delivered directly into the skin, the energy converts to heat and destroys body hair by disabling the follicles. When the follicles are destroyed, future hair regrowth is prevented. Laser hair removal can benefit men as well as women, and several areas of the body can be successfully treated, including the:

  • Face
  • Male chest
  • Back
  • Legs
  • Underarms
  • Arms
  • Bikini areas

Males who wish to have their body hair thinned instead of completely removed can discuss these options with our medical team during their consultation.

How is Laser Hair Removal Performed?

At Delta Laser and Skin Care Centre, we utilize multiple technologies for laser hair removal:

  • Lightsheer Duet™: Featuring increased spot size, shorter treatment times by up to 75 percent, and increased patient comfort, this system developed by Lumenis has become the gold standard in laser hair removal.
  • SoftLight: One of the first lasers approved by the FDA for hair removal, SoftLight has a proven safety profile and is effective for darker skin types.
  • XEO®: Developed by Cutera, this multi-platform system has more configuration possibilities than any other system of its kind on the market, offering both laser and light-based treatment options.

Are There Any Side Effects?

Laser hair removal is non-ablative, meaning it does not remove the skin. Post-treatment flushing or redness akin to a sunburn is common after laser hair removal and should subside within a few days. Our medical team is highly trained in this procedure, and our advanced laser technologies are clinically proven to be safe and effective for all skin types.

As body hair goes through different hair cycles, it may take multiple sessions in order to completely clear the hair from treated areas. During your consultation, our medical team will assess your individual condition and advise you on how many sessions may be necessary in order to achieve your goals.

Contact Delta Laser and Skin Care Centre today to schedule a consultation and find out how laser hair removal can restore silkiness and smoothness to your areas of unwanted body hair.
